JUBMy inner anglophile is burning with desire today – a desire to be in London to help celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend.  This year marks 60 years on the throne for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, with this weekend marking the “central weekend” of the year-long celebration.

All across the UK and the realm, there are many gala celebrations planned, from local picnics and street parties to huge regattas on the Thames and word-class performances.  The Brits know how to do pomp and this weekend it will all be on display for the world to see.  Even the most cynical royal subjects have been given a four-day weekend to mark the occasion with two “bank holidays” on Monday and Tuesday respectively to ensure a good time is had by all.

My love of London, England, the Monarchy and all things British is well documented here on Lost Cowboy, so you can only imagine how much I wish I can be there to participate in the fun.  But alas, I will have to celebrate from afar with some tea and scones and making the most of the very London-like weather (read: rain) we are having today here in New Hampshire.

In the meantime, join me in marking this historic anniversary of Her Majesty’s reign.  Long Live England and God Save the Queen.
