I will admit that the pre-adolescent boy from the 1970’s that still lives inside of me is in part responsible for today’s post. I have adored the pop star Olivia Newton-John as long as I can remember and to this day whenever I think of her, or hear her sweet voice, I get a warm and happy feeling.
In recent years Miss Newton-John has spent much of her celebrity equity on breast cancer awareness and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. She combines both of these pursuits in her wonderful new book, Livwise: Easy Recipes for a Healthy, Happy Life.
About Livwise: Easy Recipes for a Healthy, Happy Life: “The secret of Olivia’s success is no secret at all. She exercises daily and eats a simple diet based mostly on salads, vegetables, fish, chicken, and some whole grains. She firmly believes that what we eat is imperative to staying healthy and well-balanced and she shares this philosophy in her first cookbook, Livwise. Recipes in Livwise have been assembled using Olivia’s own experience in the kitchen and with the help of nutritionists, friends, and chefs from Gaia, her Australian health retreat and spa. The resulting meals are imaginative, tasty, and very healthy, from delicious salads and snacks to hearty main dishes and guilt-free desserts.”
In Livwise, Miss Newton-John gives us fun and creative meal ideas (things like “chickpea patties and a carrot salad with papaya and orange dressing”) and presents her view on better eating. The book is not preachy, but after flipping through it you will choose to pursue foods that support a “happy, healthy life.”
All profits from the book will go to support The Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
