fus2On a recent trip to Todd Farm (the Sundays-only antique flea market in Rowley, MA) with my favorite “picking” buddy, my friend Lynda, I spotted this Vintage Folding Tabletop Foosball Game and knew immediately that I needed it

Of course showing over-the-top excitement over an item is a bad negotiation tactic, I could not help myself, I fell in love with this piece. After a lengthy conversation with the dealer about the game and some of her other items, we came to a fair price and I bought the thing.

I just love it! It is most likely a mid-century game and is just awesome. It is made mostly of wood and folds up into a easy to carry case. Open it up on a table and you are good to go. Folded, it is about 12”x18” and opens to about 18”x24 – a nice size.

I tried to research the piece, but came up short, mostly due to the fact that it appears to have been made by the Swiss toy company Wisa Gloria – and I can hardly speak German much less read it.

Wisa Gloria, which is still in business and still making fusball tables, does not distribute their products in the US. This last fact makes me love the thing even more, as there are likely very few around.

My plan is to use it as a piece of art – meaning, I think it would look great hanging on a wall. I need to make sure I find the right place for it, but I am sure it is going to be perfect wherever it ends up.
