RSBSLost Cowboy is a decidedly non-political blog.  However, I was amused that I received two bottles of Red and Blue State Bourbon for Christmas. Red and Blue State Bourbon is a special run from Heaven Hill Distilleries for the just past presidential campaign season.

The bottles have a fun old-school design and are a fun way to tweak friends.  Imagine telling an ultraliberal friend that the bourbon he is sipping is Red State?  (And vice-versa.)

About Heaven Hill Distilleries“Shortly after Prohibition ended in the United States, Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., was founded in Bardstown, Kentucky by the Shapira family to produce and market Bourbon and premium American whiskeys. At the time, it was as speculative a new business venture as the dot com start-ups of the 1990’s — a company founded with no brands, no available stocks of whiskey, and at the height of the Great Depression. Today, the company is the largest independent, family-owned and operated producer and marketer of distilled spirits in the country. According to industry analysts, Heaven Hill is now the seventh largest spirits supplier in the United States and second largest holder of aging Bourbon whiskey in the world with an inventory in excess of 900,000 barrels.”

The special edition Red and Blue State Bourbon is now out of production – but can still be found at stores and online.  Pick up a few bottles if you see them, they will be collectors’ items soon enough.  A good thing about bourbon is it will keep for another four years.
