GPOPJust around the corner from my hotel in Chicago is the Michigan Avenue home of Garrett Popcorn, the extremely popular Garett Popcorn. From my hotel window I can see the shop and the long lines that stretch around corner waiting to get in.

Now, I love popcorn, I have eaten popcorn for every meal for more days than I care to count, but I can’t imagine waiting in line for more than a few minutes to buy some. But then again, not all popcorn is Garrett Popcorn.

About Garrett Popcorn Shops: “At Garrett Popcorn Shops®, we’ve maintained our dedication to fresh, delicious popcorn since we first opened at 10 West Madison Street in Chicago. We continue to use only the highest quality ingredients from area producers as we handcraft our gourmet popcorn in old-fashioned copper kettles. We strive to deliver the same popcorn today that customers first talked about in 1949. What makes Garrett Popcorn so special? We hot air pop our signature blend of kernels, which we then mix into our secret family recipes. Every batch is handmade daily and the result is an irresistible snacking sensation, which has generated lines of historic proportions outside of our retail locations for decades.”

Most people choose one of Garrett’s flavored popcorn, but I like the simple plain popcorn – there is nothing better than just popcorn and salt.

But for the perfect Chicago gift – I like the Chicago Wrigley Field commemorative tin: “If you can’t make it to The Friendly Confines, you can cheer on your Chicago Cubs with this Wrigley Field commemorative tin.”
