FLEAWith the iconic Brimfield Antique Show in Brimfield, MA coming up next week, I am sad that I am out here in Kansas City and will be missing it this year. However, I have been researching some of our great nation’s other large antique markets – many here in the midwest – and I can’t wait to explore them.

One of the best resources I have found for discovering new markets to explore, is the wonderful book The Best Flea, Antique, Vintage, and New-Style Markets in America by Pamela Keech.

About The Best Flea, Antique, Vintage, and New-Style Markets in America by Pamela Keech: “Among the countless markets in America, there are those that deserve to be called legendary: hundreds of dealers, spectacular settings, and heart-stopping offerings that make each an unforgettable adventure. Author Pam Keech—a museum curator who shops professionally at the markets—takes you to legendary markets that deliver fabulous finds and that surprise and delight at every turn. The Best Flea, Antique, Vintage, and New-Style Markets in America is an essential guide for shoppers who want to get the most out of each venue. All the practical details are covered: how to avoid wasting precious time, how to determine the best paths through the markets, how much can be covered in a day, how to find the must-see dealers, and more. And—because the thrill of the chase can be utterly exhausting—great local places to eat and where to find a soft bed at the end of the day. Lots and lots of photographs make even armchair travelers feel a part of the action.”

In addition to highlighting some of the best markets in the U.S., Ms. Keech’s book offers some helpful tips and includes some great photography that will make you want to hit the road to visit them all.

The Best Flea, Antique, Vintage, and New-Style Markets in America by Pamela Keech is available from Amazon and other fine book retailers.
