Fourth14There are a lot of reasons to love my home state of New Hampshire – but the best is those precious few glorious weeks that is true summer. Summer in northern New England is fleeting, so the natives make the most of it and it is wonderful.

My favorite time of year is what I call “the fortnight” – the roughly two weeks every summer when the orange daylilies are in bloom (my favorite flower) – roughly a few days before the Fourth of July through Bastille Day (July 14).

Sadly, I will not be there for “the fortnight” this year – but I have my memories and pictures for past summers to hold me over until I return.
