exitWhen I was a kid we used to make “sun tea” in the summer. Basically, it is iced tea “brewed” in the sun during the day and enjoyed in the evening. This was a lot of fun until some Debby Downer said something about this way of brewing can lead to bacteria or some such. And by the way, tea can “brew” just as well if put in cold water in the refrigerator, but I digress.

All of this is a set up to say I thought of sun tea when I found the really cool Solar Lamp Sun Jar from the fine folks at Exit 9. Basically the same premise, sit it out in the sun during the day and enjoy it at night.

About The Solar Lamp Sun Jar from Exit 9: “At night your Sun Jar lights up automatically. During the day, leave your Sun Jar outside – or in a sunny window for several hours to charge. Made with a traditional Mason Jar, inside the jar is a highly efficient solar cell, rechargeable battery and LED lamp. When the jar is placed in sunlight, the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over the course of the day. This energy is then used at night to power the LED lamp inside the jar. The light emitted is diffused by the frosted jar and gives the appearance of sunlight. Sun Jars work best outdoors in DIRECT sunshine!”
