FF: The Bonfire Log from EcoForrest

ff1OK, this is the best thing to come to your fireplace since the Duraflame log – the Bonfire Log from EcoForrest.

About the Bonfire Log from EcoForrest: “The Bonfire Log is new, unique, and the most extraordinary innovation in firewood of our time. Put it virtually anywhere and create a beautiful bonfire with one match. No chemicals, just pure kiln dried beautiful white birch, with a paperboard firestarter, with its patent pending design, delivers a great fire and an instant good time. The Bonfire burns more than 1.5 hours, while the Bonfire Jumbo goes for about 2.5 hours. Both can be enjoyed in a fire pit, chimnea, or fireplace, indoors or out. Take them camping, cook marshmallows or hotdogs on a stick, or drop a frying pan on the log for eggs. It’s year round instant entertainment, never easier or ‘cooler.’”

linusI am a goner. Or at least the space in my garage is a goner as I have fallen in love with the Rover Urban Cruiser from the fine folks at Linus Bikes. The space is a goner because I already have two perfectly fine (actually awesome) bikes and the last I heard I can only ride one at a time. But a boy can dream, right?

About the Rover from Linus Bikes:

“Our new Urban Cruiser was designed with the elegant lines and dignified profile you’ve come to expect from Linus, but on big 29er wheels that glide over curbs, pot holes, and downed telephone poles. When you’re not conquering urban chaos, it also makes for a very comfortable and uniquely stylish ride along boardwalks and country roads. There’s really no place the Rover can’t go.”

LPI think when I featured the memoir I Must Say: My Life As a Humble Comedy Legend by Mr. Martin Short as my Weekly Read, I may have said that no one has made me laugh more in the last few decades than he. If there is a female version of Mr. Short it is Ms. Andrea Martin and her memoir, Lady Parts, confirmed it for me.

I have loved Ms. Martin since I first saw her on SCTC back in the day and fell more in love with her a couple of years ago when I was honored to see her Tony Award-winning turn in the revival of Pippin on Broadway. So I picked up her book with great expectations and I was rewarded with a candid, brave, and supremely funny collection of tales.

About Lady Parts by Andrea Martin: “A hilarious, entertaining, and often moving memoir, from the multiple Tony and Emmy-awarding winning actress and comedienne, and SCTV alum, Andrea Martin. Whether lighting up the small screen in her new TV series, Working the Engels, on NBC, or stealing scenes on the big screen in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Hedwig and the Angry Inch, or starring on the stage in her recent Tony award winning role as Berthe in Pippin, Andrea Martin has long entertained audiences with her hilarious characterizations and heartwarming performances. Martin has worked stages, sets and even trapezes across North America, playing to houses packed with adoring fans, all of whom instantly recognize the star who has entertained us for nearly forty years. In Andrea Martin’s Lady Parts, Martin, for the first time, shares her fondest remembrances of a life in show business, motherhood, relationships, no relationships, family, chimps in tutus, squirrels, and why she flies to Atlanta to get her hair cut. Martin opens up her heart in a series of eclectic, human, always entertaining and often moving essays. Lady Parts will make you giggle and may make you cry. This is a powerful collection of stories by a woman with a truly storied life.”

Reading Ms. Martin’s life reflections made me realize that despite recognition that she is a comic genius and despite the great honors bestowed her, she is tragically underrated.

Lady Parts by Andrea Martin is available from Amazon and other fine booksellers.
