aa2As a total Dickens fanatic – and a lifelong A Christmas Carol junkie in particular – I have always wanted to take in a production of the classic story at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago. This past weekend I did just that and it was wonderful. I have seen dozens of productions of the holiday classic in the past, but this one was epic. The Goodman does it up right and there is no surprise why their annual production of A Christmas Carol has become one of the city’s top holiday traditions.

About A Christmas Carol at the Goodman: “’There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit’ (Chicago Sun-Times) than experiencing the joy of this timeless tale of hope and redemption. Charles Dickens’ messages of hope, charity and kindness towards others mean more than ever this season. Share this heartwarming tradition—chock full of festive music, glorious costumes and more stage magic than ever—with friends and loved ones. It’s the best show to get at the true meaning of the holidays.”

A Christmas Carol runs through December 31, 2016 at The Goodman Theatre in the great city of Chicago USA.

If you can’t get to Chicago…

A Christmas Carol is a staple at regional theaters all across the country and I encourage you to check out a production near you. Not only will you be put into the holiday spirit, you will help support a local arts organization.

A few of the great productions I have enjoyed over the years include:

The Wassail Candle from Kirby and Company: “The wassail candle commemorates Woodstock’s iconic holiday celebration, held annually in the heart of New England.  This candle will bring a bit of yuletide nostalgia into your home!”

The Playing Card Set with Leather Case from Son of a Sailor.

Or really ANYTHING from Son of a Sailor.
