The holidays are over, and as much as we love the season, it is nice to get back to the normal day-to-day which makes you appreciate the special times even more when they pop up again. But I like to keep little hints of the holidays throughout the year. One way I do this is I make mini Thanksgiving dinners a couple of times throughout the year. And what Thanksgiving would be complete without a special cranberry sauce, like the Original Cranberry Sauce from the fine folks at Wild Thymes?

About the Original Cranberry Sauce from Wild Thymes:

“This delectable combination of cranberries and fresh oranges & lemons is light, yet bold and makes the perfect accompaniment or glaze to all kinds of poultry, meats, game and even fish. Enjoy it over Brie as a delicious and simple hors d’oeuvre. Mix it into your chicken or turkey salad or try it as a sandwich spread. Enjoy it over toast, muffins and scones or as a dessert topping.”

This is so much better than the congealed can-shaped stuff you grew up with – and so versatile when used like a jam or a condiment.

FF: Original Mississippi Floating Whiskey from Cane Land Distilling

Meanwhile, I don’t need to be convinced to try any whiskey, so I was all over the opportunity recently to taste Original Mississippi Floating Whiskey from the fine folks at Cane Land Distilling – and I am here to report it is great.

About Original Mississippi Floating Whiskey (OMFW) from Cane Land Distilling:

“OMFW is the humble recreation of the early American whiskey trail, an 1,100-mile journey of whiskey down the Mississippi River to the Port of New Orleans. Aged over five years, it spent weeks in the barrel on the mightiest of rivers, and was finally blended in antique cognac vats at our distillery. The nautical movement and finishing techniques forged a light and smooth whiskey to be enjoyed in all forms.”

I love benches. I think benches are one of the most underrated pieces of furniture – as they are so versatile. Depending on the design, a bench can be used for seating, a side table, coffee table, or even a shelf for books or a television. I am on the lookout for the perfect bench for my living room and I think I am on the right track with the Gus Modern Transit Bench I found from the fine folks at Lumens.

About the Gus Modern Transit Bench from Lumens:

“The Gus Modern Transit Bench is a versatile piece that can be used for seating in spaces large or small, or even as a coffee table. Its top is made of solid ash wood slats that are joined precisely in parallel, creating a look that’s pleasingly proportional, lightweight and sturdy. The base has tubular steel legs that are slightly splayed for stability. Mid-century modern design interpreted with an industrial edge. Such is the modis operandi of Gus* Modern. Every accessory, sofa, sectional, chair and table they design is inspired by simple forms and honest materials. The resulting modern furniture pieces are clean, elegant and versatile, with crisply tailored upholstery and solid, eco-friendly FSC-certified wood frames. Founded in 2000, Gus* Modern is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.”

I know what you are thinking – are benches the new Bar Carts?

So this is the week I start really appreciating some of the gifts I received for Christmas.
