FF: The Whale Knife from Tortoise General Store

FF1I love the Whale Knife I found from the fine folks at Tortoise General Store.

About the Whale Knife from Tortoise General Store: “Knives from Tosa Forged blades from modern day Tosa boomed in the early Edo period (around 1620) when the procurement of lumber and development of rice fields increased the demand for high-quality forestry tools. Tetsu Yamashita was just a craftsman of sickles when he was asked to make a pencil sharpener with a round edge and came up with the whale knife. The object became so popular that he expanded the collection to include whale shaped letter-openers. In 2002, Mr. Yamashita was designated by the Japanese government as a Japanese Traditional Craftsman.”
